Bali is an Indonesian island known for its Hindu culture, green rice fields and beaches. Temples, flower offerings and dance shows are part of daily life here, and many Indian travellers feel a warm connection to it.
The island has two moods. Ubud, in the hills, is about rice terraces, temples, art markets and quiet jungle villas. The south coast (Seminyak, Kuta, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu) is about beaches, sunsets, water sports, cafes and shopping. Most trips split the stay between the two. A day trip by boat to Nusa Penida adds dramatic cliffs and deep blue water.

Bali is about 2.5 hours ahead of India. Flights from India usually have one stop, and roads in the south can be very slow. Plan fewer things per day and stay in two areas, and you will enjoy it far more.

- April to October (dry season, best): Sunny days, lower humidity and calmer seas. Great for beaches, Nusa Penida and sightseeing.
- July and August: The busiest months. Book villas early and expect more traffic.
- November to March (wet season): Hot and humid, with heavy but often short showers. The island is very green and quieter. Keep boat trips and outdoor plans flexible.
- Nyepi: The Balinese Day of Silence, usually in March, shuts the whole island, including the airport, for about a day. Check the date before you book.

How to reachकैसे पहुँचें
- By air: Bali's airport is Ngurah Rai International (Denpasar), in the south of the island. Flights from India usually connect through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok. Total travel time is often around 9 to 12 hours, depending on your city and the stop. Ask your travel planner whether a direct flight runs from your city on your dates.
- Airport transfers: Kuta, Seminyak and Nusa Dua are usually 20 to 60 minutes away, and Ubud about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.
- Getting around: A private car with driver is the easiest and most comfortable way to sightsee.
- Nusa Penida: Fast boats leave from Sanur and usually take under an hour.

Ubud is Bali's cultural heart, set among green hills. Just north of town, the Tegallalang rice terraces step down the valley in layers of green, best seen in the morning. Try a jungle swing nearby, taste local coffee at a plantation and visit the Tirta Empul water temple. A shady forest with old temples, giant trees and hundreds of long-tailed monkeys. Kids and adults both enjoy it, but the monkeys are bold. Keep sunglasses, food, water bottles and loose items in a zipped bag, and don't feed or touch them. Uluwatu Temple stands on a high cliff above the Indian Ocean in south Bali. Arrive in the late afternoon for the views, then watch the Kecak fire dance at sunset in an open-air theatre, with a chorus of men chanting 'cak'. A sarong is required and is usually given at the gate. Tanah Lot is a sea temple built on a rock just off the west coast, and one of Bali's most photographed spots. It looks best at sunset. At low tide you can walk close to the base of the rock, but the temple itself is usually open only to worshippers. A rugged island off Bali's south-east coast, famous for Kelingking Beach with its T-Rex shaped cliff, Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong. The day trip starts with a fast boat from Sanur, which can be bumpy. Roads on the island are rough and slow, and the path down to Kelingking Beach is very steep. Kintamani sits on a high ridge with a wide view of the active Mount Batur volcano and Lake Batur. Most tours stop here for lunch with a view, often combined with Ubud sightseeing. The air is cooler, so carry a light layer. Tanjung Benoa, next to Nusa Dua, is Bali's water sports hub. The sea here is usually calm, so it suits first-timers too. Popular choices are parasailing, banana boat, jet ski and sea walking with a helmet. A glass-bottom boat goes to a small turtle island. Kuta is Bali's busiest beach, with gentle waves for beginner surf lessons, lively streets and big malls. Seminyak, just north, is more stylish, with boutiques, cafes, beach clubs and lovely sunsets. Both have plenty of Indian and vegetarian restaurants. - A visa for everyone: Every traveller, including infants, needs their own visa.
- Passport: It must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Carry a return or onward ticket.
- All Indonesia Arrival Card: A free online form covering immigration, customs and health. Fill it within the 3 days before arrival and show the QR code.
- Bali tourist levy: A separate one-time charge for foreign tourists. Pay it online on the official Love Bali website or app before you fly (airport counters also exist) and keep the QR voucher.

- At temples, cover your shoulders and knees and wear a sarong with a sash. Sarongs are usually given or rented at the gate. It is a one-time charge for foreign tourists visiting Bali, separate from the visa. Pay it online on the official Love Bali website or app before you fly, and you get a QR voucher to show. Airport counters also exist, but paying in advance saves time when you land.

How many days are ideal for Bali?बाली के लिए कितने दिन सही हैं?
Five or six nights is ideal for a first trip: two nights in Ubud and three or four in the south (Seminyak, Kuta or Nusa Dua). This covers Ubud, Kintamani, Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, water sports and a Nusa Penida day. Honeymooners often add a night or two to enjoy their pool villa.
